2012 Winter Homeschool Classes |

Beat cabin fever this winter by bringing the kids to SunWatch! Learn about American Indian history, culture, and arts and crafts through classes and take-home activities. Each class starts at 1:00 p.m. and lasts approximately 1-1.5 hours. These programs have been designed for first through fifth grade students. Advance registration is required, and closes two weeks prior to class.
Fee: $6.00 per child per class for members, $8.00 for non-members, unless otherwise noted.
*Please note: Classes may be taken individually or in a series. If the scheduled classes do not fit your homeschool group's schedule, contact SunWatch to schedule a class for your group. A minimum of 8 students required to schedule classes.

Learn about American Indian culture, archaeology, and prehistoric Ohio through hands-on activities, crafts, games and more. Reservations are required two weeks before the date of the camp; the session runs 9:00 a.m. to noon, Tuesday through Friday. Designed for ages 4 through Grade 9+.
Fees: $50 members; $60 non-members
To register for SunWatch Summer LORE, fill out and mail in the registration/ consent form, call 937–268–8199, or visit SunWatch. Class levels are determined by the student's last grade completed by the start of the program. The parental consent and health form sections MUST BE COMPLETED for all students. Mail–in and walk–in registration is encouraged. All fees are due at the time of registration.

Open to all groups of 20 students/participants or more, SunWatch offers five unique guided tours including SunWatch Discovery, Lifestyles of the Rich and Prehistoric, Who in the World is Indiana Jones?, What if I lived at SunWatch?, and Fun at SunWatch. Each tour lasts approximately 90 minutes with approximately one hour outside in the Village.
Participants should dress appropriately as the weather requires. Groups must schedule at least one month in advance. |

 All Girl and Boy Scouts, Campfire Boys and Girls, and members of Y Adventure Programs are invited to attend a special morning at SunWatch set aside especially for them. Held twice each year, Scout Days offer a variety of activities with different stations set up in the Village and Museum, including discussion of the "Green Corn Ceremony" and the center post alignments, playing games, participating in archery demonstrations, making a craft, using pump drills, and taking part in a museum wide scavenger hunt. Advance registration is required for the event. Fees: $6.00 per person. |

Have you ever wondered what it is like to spend the night in a reconstructed 800-year-old house? Here is your chance to experience the lives of the Fort Ancient Indians.
After viewing the introductory film and taking a nighttime tour of the Village, SunWatch’s overnight guests enjoy a craft and a light snack, listen to Native American stories, shop in the gift shop, and settle down for a cozy night in the Interpretive Center or one of the reconstructed houses. |

Open to school groups of 10–30 students, SunWatch offers three unique prairie education programs that last approximately 1–3 hours. These programs are held outside in the native prairie (dress appropriately as the weather requires). Groups must schedule at least one month in advance. Prairie Classes are offered seasonally, call for availability. Our prairie programs cover many of the Ohio Math and Science Academic Content Standards.

Learn the terminology, work, and tools that archaeologists use to uncover the mysteries of the past. The class is designed for ages 12 years through adults, and is offered to groups of 10–30 students. Held on Tuesdays or Thursdays only, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Class requires one month advanced registration. Cost is $10.00 per person. |
