Common Membership Questions

Q. Does my membership include admissions to special events?

A. Your membership to the Dayton Society of Natural History includes unlimited general admission to SunWatch Indian Village/Archaeological Park and the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery. Discounted admissions are provided to members for some special events, guided tours, classes, Summer Lore, and other activities.

Q. I've lost/laundered my membership card. What should I do?

Q. How long does it take to get a permanent membership card?

A. We strive to mail out all permanent membership cards within 15 business days, but due to higher volumes at different peak times, it can take longer. While you are waiting, simply use your temporary card or the e-mail confirmation from your online purchase…they do everything your permanent card does with proper photo ID.

Q. How long does my membership last?

A. Memberships are good for one full year from date of purchase; they are non-transferable.

Q. What are the refund policies?

A. Under certain conditions approved by the Manager, Membership and Data, and with proof of purchase, a membership may be refunded under the following guidelines: within the first 30 days of purchase, a full refund may be issued minus a $10.00 processing fee; between the 31st and 90th day of purchase, a 50% refund may be issued minus a $10.00 processing fee; after the 91st day no refunds will be issued.

Q. Can I loan my membership card to a friend or other family member?

A. Membership is limited to the two adults named on the card, and all their children/grandchildren 17 years and younger; others would not be able to use the membership. Membership cards are not transferable; membership cards can only be used by the adults listed on the card with proper photo ID. However, if you have another adult that frequently brings your children/grandchildren to SunWatch or the Boonshoft Museum, you may “add on” their name for an additional $20. A maximum of 2 “add on” names are permitted per membership for an additional $40.

Q. Can my Nanny, Au Pair or Babysitter bring my kids to SunWatch?

A. If someone will be using your membership to escort your children to SunWatch, it is crucial that their name be added to your account and that they receive their own card. Please contact the Membership office at 937–275–7431, ext. 144 to “add-on” to your membership.

Q. Can my spouse or partner bring my kids to SunWatch?

A. All of our membership cards are imprinted with the names of up to two adults who are living in the same household. We encourage all parents and other adults raising children to share the experience. If your spouse or partner's name is not listed on your card, please let us know so that we can add them.
