Cultures in Contact: A 17th century Reenactment of Native American Village Life and Interaction with Colonial Europeans

Enjoy a day of 17th century reenactments at SunWatch Indian Village/Archaeological Park, a partially reconstructed 800-year-old Native American village along the Great Miami River in Dayton. The reenactment features a trade scenario between the village inhabitants and colonial traders, 17th century weapon and tool demonstrations and a Native American game of double ball. In addition, tour SunWatch’s that includes five lath and daub structures with grass thatch roofs, a partially reconstructed stockade, a native garden and prairie, picnic areas and a new interpretive center that exhibits many of the artifacts that have been recovered from the site. Included with regular admission; Adults $5, Children and Seniors $3, Children 5 and under and SmartPass members are FREE.
17th century reenactors and vendors are welcomed but must be approved and registered to attend. The reconstructed houses can be used but are reserved on a first-come, first served basis. Colonial encampment is outside of the Village in a lightly wooded area. Registration deadline: October 1, 2007. Click here for registration form.
